Our Story & Mission

Our Story

Selena's gift in the kitchen did not appear out of nowhere. It was given by God — and then shaped, with extraordinary intentionality, by the women He placed around her. Our father is Chaldean, and from the very beginning of our parents' marriage, our mother sat at the feet of our aunt — our dad's only sister — learning the art of Middle Eastern cooking. For years, those two women cooked together. Our mom absorbed it all: the spices, the techniques, the patience, the love that goes into food rooted in centuries of culture and tradition. And then she brought all of it into our home.

Selena grew up in that kitchen. She gravitated toward our mom naturally — drawn in by the aromas, the stories, the rhythm of it. What began as curiosity became a deep and sacred bond between them — mother and daughter, side by side, learning and creating together. The Chaldean richness our dad's family carried, combined with our mom's extraordinary natural talent, made for something truly rare. It is why Selena could cook the way she did so early in life. She was not just taught recipes. She was shaped by women who cooked with their whole hearts — and it shows in everything she makes to this day.

Mariah brings a lifetime of business, communications, and operational experience to everything that happens outside the kitchen. She is the one transforming spaces — styling tables, curating presentations, managing every client relationship and logistical detail with the same care Selena pours into the food. Where Selena's gifts speak through flavor, Mariah's speak through beauty and order. Neither of us could do what the other does. And that is exactly the point.

Together, we are sisters. Not just in blood — but in the love of Jesus Christ, which is the actual foundation of this whole thing. What you taste in the food and see in the presentation is not just skill. It is the overflow of two women who genuinely love people because He first loved them. The joy is real. The warmth is real. The care is real. It is all Jesus — and we will be the first to tell you that.

Our Mission

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

— Mark 10:45 (NIV)

This verse is not decoration. It is the heartbeat of everything we do.

Jesus — the King of kings, the One through whom all things were made — came not to be waited on, but to wash feet. To heal the sick. To sit at tables with the forgotten. To lay down His life so that anyone who believes in Him would receive not just forgiveness, but new life. Real, eternal, resurrection life. That is the Gospel. And that is what drives us.

When we show up to serve your event, we are not just delivering food. We are living out a conviction — that serving others with genuine love and joy is one of the most powerful ways to reflect who Jesus is. People notice. They always do. And when they ask us why — why we care so much, why it feels different, why there is something about the way we work that they cannot quite name — we get to tell them. We get to talk about Him. And we always do.

Our deepest hope is not a five-star review, though we work hard enough for one. Our deepest hope is that someone leaves one of our events having tasted something they cannot explain — a kindness, a warmth, a love that points them straight to the Source. That every table we set becomes a small reflection of the table He has set for all of us.

We serve because He served first. We love because He loved first. And we trust Him with every single event, every detail, every client — because He is the strength that makes all of this possible.

It is all Jesus. Every single bit of it.

“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve.”— Mark 10:45

Chapter one · the flavor

I'm Selena — daughter, sister, friend, and by God's grace... Happiest when I get to be Chef Sus

Cooking a meal from scratch in the kitchen

From the kitchen

I think I found my way into the kitchen before I even realized what was happening.

Standing in the family kitchen

Made with love

I was always drawn to my mom there — the smells, the stories, the way she could make food feel like love without ever needing to explain it.

Cooking at home in a printed apron — where it all started

Side by side

Over time, it became our place. Mother and daughter, side by side, learning, creating, messing things up, trying again, and slowly building something that meant more than recipes.

Family gathered around a big pan of home-cooked food

Family roots

Our dad's Chaldean (Iraqi Christian) roots brought so much richness to our table, and my mom had this quiet, natural gift that made everything she touched feel special.

I don't say that to make my story sound bigger than it is. I just know I was blessed to grow up around women who cooked with their whole hearts — and I think that's still what I carry into everything I make.

And then there's my sister, Mariah

Mariah is the one who can take a table and make it feel like it was waiting for you.

The whole room

She has this gift for seeing the whole room before it comes together — the tablescape, the florals, the flow, the presentation, the little details that make people feel like they walked into something prepared with care.

The feeling around it

While I'm focused on the food, Mariah is thinking about the feeling around it.

Beauty & order

She brings the beauty, the order, the communication, and the calm that make every Faithfully Served table feel graceful, intentional, and complete.

The blessing of it

My gift comes through flavor. Hers comes through the way she makes a space feel intimate. Neither of us could do what the other does — And honestly, that's the blessing of it.
